At 7:30 a.m. every Monday, entrepreneurs gather at the TReC center on Niagara Street to share ideas and grow their own.
Called the Niagara Open Coffee Club, the group began meeting in early February, so local business people and those who have ideas for business ventures in the region, share ideas, offer support, and form new connections.
“Every Monday, passionate individuals collide at TReC to share ideas, offer support, and form new connections. It serves as an entrance point for interested individuals to the local startup hive of activity," said the director of the NGTI and TReC, Pat Whalen.
The Coffee Club is free and open to all the early risers that want to play a role in creating the future of Niagara Falls, and it takes place at the TReC center at 616 Niagara Street in Niagara Falls.
Here’s what attendees can expect:
·People start arriving for a 7:30 a.m. start, entering by the F-Bites Café located inside the TReC center where they can grab a free coffee or buy something else. F-Bites Café provides free Starbucks brewed coffee for the meeting. Conversations with connections new and old start from the moment people walk in the door. Sometime around 8:10 a.m., a bellowing voice quiets the crowd and chatter dies down.
·The floor opens up to anyone that wants to share information or ask a question. Then anyone can come forth and for 60 seconds for a "give/ask" and tell the group who they are, what they are passionate about, what they can give to the community and what they ask of the group. People have shared upcoming events; dreams for the future; local opportunities; a problem or solution uncovered in their startup journey, along with the celebration of successes & failures. People often let the room know when they are looking for work; offering exclusive deals or have some hot news to break out.
Once the last brave soul finishes, the room typically reignites as individuals launch immediately back into conversation.
The rest of the time is spent among attendees who can rekindle a conversation or seek those that sparked an idea.
Every industry, company stage and personality type is welcome.
All are welcome every Monday morning, with their attendance encouraged to help to develop a vibrant, sustainable event. BRING A FRIEND!
